Decal Application Instructions

Here is a quick preview of the top hinge application method.

For the step-by-step instructions, keep scrolling.

Before You Start

For best results and longevity of the decal, try and make sure the surface you are applying the decal to is between 12-29°C (55-85°F) or it may not stick properly.

Recommended Supplies

Rubbing alcohol (or some other kind of window cleaner), a clean cloth, masking tape, a squeegee tool (or credit card), and a measuring tape if you want to accurately center the decal.

Step #1

Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol or window cleaner to remove all dirt, grime, etc. Make sure the area is completely dry before moving to step 2.

Step #2

Measure and place the decal in the desired location with the solid paper backing facing against the surface and the decal with the overlaying transfer tape facing towards you. Once you have the decal in position, place masking tape along the top edge to hold the decal in place. The decal should now be sitting like a flap/hinge.

Step #3

To ensure the decal is properly adhered to the transfer tape. Rub the decal one last time while positioned in place. Then lift up the decal and remove the backing paper carefully on a sharp angle.

Step #4

With the backing paper completely removed from the decal, start from the hinge/top side and gently lower the decal and transfer tape down to the surface, rubbing it lightly with your hand or squeegee. Work from the top/hinge side to the bottom, and from the middle to the outside. Once you have the entire decal down, with the transfer tape still in place, take the squeegee or credit card and firmly rub the decal down to the surface a few more times. Pay close attention to the edges of the decal. Doing this while the transfer tape is still on, allows you to rub it without scratching or damaging the decal.

Step #5

Finally, peel off the transfer tape and masking tape gently, pulling on a sharp angle.  The transfer tape should lift easily, leaving behind no sticky residue. The decal should adhere to the surface. * If the decal lifts up with the transfer tape, lay the tape back down and rub the trouble spot again.

Extra Tips

  • If there are any air bubbles present under the decal that cannot be removed by working them to the edge, a small needle or pin can be used to puncture the bubbles and remove the air. A small pin hole will not be seen after the air bubble had been worked out.

  • The adhesive needs 48 hours to fully cure, so don't go through the car wash for 2 days.
