Cathy Heron was first elected to St. Albert City Council in 2010, serving two terms before being elected Mayor in 2017. She has recently retired, and wants to continue her leadership and commitment to the community. In addition to her municipal role, Cathy served on the board of Alberta Municipalities, an organization representing communities across the province, for 8 years acting as President from 2021-2023.

Cathy brings a strong professional background to public service, having worked as an Environmental Analyst. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta and a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. She is also the mother of three adult children and has been an active member of the St. Albert Rotary Club for 16 years. Her experience across science, governance, and community engagement has shaped her practical and collaborative leadership style.
